Al-Basrah battle damage. This was one of the places the Republican Guard chose to fight. Civilians who had lived here were coming home by the time we were leaving.

A school teacher from Al-Basrah told us about the smaller victims of this fight. He had the registration documents from the school with their pictures.

More of our 1971 model M818s still on fourth trip into Iraq. Trip to Al-Basrah, 2nd time around to 24th Infantry Div. East South East of Khamisiyah. Funny, how our unit was lifted off the list as being in the area of Khamisiyah.
We are working on that Problem!
101st Airborne on the move March of 1991 as we make a fourth trip in to support the 24th at Al-Basrah 50 miles south of the World famous Khamisiyah Amma, Damp. I got to sit in the gunner seat of Gen. Barry Coffery's M-1 Abrams Tank.
